Running her own hotel. It wasn’t something Gonneke studied for or a dream waiting to be lived. But it was an opportunity she grabbed with both hands. She turned a small, simple building into ‘Maison Village’, a beautiful boutique hotel with an artistic flavour.

Name: Maison Village
Name of hotelier: Gonneke Gubbels

Starting point: no system

Gonneke opened her hotel – which is situated in Maastricht (Holland) – in May 2017, and Excel was her friend... She entered all her reservations in Excel and thought it would give a great overview. It kind of did, but it was way too time consuming and, more importantly, sensitive to errors. So, Gonneke went ahead and searched for ways to save time by searching for a great Property Management System and Channel Manager. She found RoomRaccoon!

“I wanted a clear overview, save time and place my rooms on multiple booking websites. And that succeeded!” says Gonneke. She saves time because the invoicing is going automatically with RoomRaccoon’s PMS. The Channel Manager manages all her (new) booking channels, which makes it easy to connect with new reservation websites.

Gonneke also makes use of the Booking Engine. “I was told that my direct bookings would increase significantly. And that was not a sales talk!” tells Gonneke with a big smile on her face. “Now, one third of my reservations are placed via my own Booking Engine and I’m really happy with that, because I pay 0% commissions on these reservations!”

Maison Village makes use of Add-ons, as Gonneke tells enthusiastically: “When people make a reservation, a bottle of Prosecco is often added to their reservation. And that’s fine by me, of course!”

Gonneke is enthusiastic about RoomRaccoon. She doesn’t use all functions, but want to in the near future; She likes to make price alterations on popular days and make special arrangements.

Gonneke’s final tip: “Do you want to start your own hotel? This work is so fun, because it’s so diverse – from decorating rooms to serving breakfast – but keep in mind that there’s more to it than you may think”.
