Independent hotels in Italy experience record-breaking RevPAR in August

(Breda) 22 August 2023 – Independent hotels in Italy have recorded a surge in revenue per available room (RevPAR), the standard metric for measuring top-line hotel performance, over the Ferragosto holiday, peaking at €164 on Monday, 14 August 2023.

This according to new data from hotel management system RoomRaccoon which monitored key performance metrics of over 800 rooms in boutique hotels, B&Bs and guesthouses across the country.

“This is the highest volume we’ve recorded since launching our Italian division in 2019,” says Matteo Pasotti, Interim Market Head of RoomRaccoon Italy. “What’s more, we witnessed a record-breaking surge in average occupancy rate on the same day, measuring 88%.”

Throughout the summer season, independent hotels in Italy observed an 8% rise in RevPAR, averaging €106. This stands in contrast to the €98 recorded over the same period in 2022. The results reflect a robust resurgence in both occupancy rates and the Italian hotel industry’s capacity to establish competitive room pricing.

“This summer, hotels in Italy faced many challenges, including staff shortages, rising inflation, and the devastating heatwaves that struck in July. It is encouraging to see that despite these setbacks, independent hotels have succeeded in surpassing the performance metrics of 2022,” says Matteo.
